Interesting Place in Melaka, Malaysia

A Fomasa was built by the Portugese conquerous in 1511 as a fortress.
Surrounded by stone walls and boasting four towers, it was the strongest
fort in the region. During the Dutch attack, the fortress was badly damaged.
In 1670 the Dutch repaired and embossed this fortress with the "voc"
chest above the gateway witch still can be seen today. With the invention of
Sir Stamford Raffles in 1808, he saved the old gateway from destruction.
